Terms & Conditions
These terms and conditions govern all sash window restoration, repair, draught-proofing and joinery contracts with NJS Sash Windows.
1Quotations
All quotations are based on the condition of the windows that can reasonably be assessed at the time of inspection.
Where we quote to restore a window, the quoted price covers the normal work reasonably required to complete that restoration as described in the quotation.
Our quotation covers all normal work reasonably required to complete the restoration as specified.
2Booking Payment
A 20% booking payment is required before work is booked into our schedule.
The booking payment forms part of the total contract price.
Payment of the booking payment confirms acceptance of the quotation and these Terms & Conditions.
Any statutory cancellation rights remain unaffected.
Secures your installation or restoration date in our master schedule and counts towards the final invoice total.
3Restoration Work
Where a window is quoted for restoration, the price includes the normal repairs required to restore that window to proper working condition.
This may include timber repairs, resin repairs, sash cords or balances, easing and adjustment, draught-proofing, glazing work and other associated restoration work where required.
We do not charge separately for every minor defect found during a normal restoration.
- Complete timber repairs & splicing
- Specialist epoxy/acrylic resin stabilization
- New sash cords or spiral balances
- Easing, balancing & perimeter adjustment
- Integrated perimeter draught-proofing systems
- Glazing repairs & traditional putty work
- No surprise charges for minor defects discovered during standard restoration
4Glass
Where glass is damaged or broken during the normal restoration process, replacement glass is included within the restoration price.
We will use a suitable replacement wherever reasonably possible.
With older, historic or unusual glass, an exact visual match cannot always be guaranteed due to availability.
Accidental breakage during normal restoration is covered at our cost. Historic glass matches will be as close as modern availability permits.
6Access, Weather and Delays
Customers must provide reasonable and safe access to the windows being worked on.
Exterior work may be delayed by rain, unsuitable temperatures, unsafe conditions, material delays, scaffolding delays or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Any start or completion dates are given in good faith and may need to change where circumstances require.
7Existing Defects and Other Contractors
NJS Sash Windows is not responsible for defects caused by previous poor workmanship, structural movement, damp, water ingress or work carried out by other contractors.
Where scaffolding or another service is supplied directly by an independent contractor, that contractor’s own terms and conditions will apply.
8Payment
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the remaining balance is payable on completion of the agreed work.
If there is a genuine workmanship issue, NJS Sash Windows must be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the work and, where appropriate, put the matter right.
9Liability
NJS Sash Windows will carry out all work with reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for loss or damage caused by pre-existing defects, structural problems, hidden weaknesses, defective materials or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or restricts any legal rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10Customer Rights
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects the customer’s statutory rights under UK consumer law.
